26/11 terror suspect held at Delhi airport
NEW DELHI: The Special Cell of the Delhi Police on Monday arrested a key terror suspect from the Indira Gandhi International Airport here, Indian media reported.
According to police sources, the suspect – identified as Syed Jabeeudeen – is believed to have provided assistance to 26/11 terrorists. He is reported to be involved with the Indian Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Taiba terror groups.
The suspect had been on the run since 2006 when he went to Pakistan, Indian media claimed.
Firing incident kills three in Karachi Updated 2 hours ago
According to police, a man identified as Hussain was killed in Machar Colony area of Kemari. His body was shifted to Civil Hospital where the relatives of deceased took the body without medico legal formalities.
Unknown gunmen also killed a man in Baldia whose identity could not be ascertained until the last report was filed.
A body was found in Saeedabad area while two persons were also injured in separate firing incidents in Lyari and at Shershah Road.
It is pertinent to mention that two policemen including a sub-inspector were killed in a firing incident at Nagan Chowrangi in the vicinity of Sir Syed police station late on Sunday night. Total seven people lost their lives throughout the day.
Four dacoits killed in Lahore encounter
LAHORE: Police killed four alleged dacoits in separate encounters in the provincial capital while a constable also lost his life, Geo news reported Monday.
According to police, three alleged dacoits were escaping after snatching a bike in Punjab Society area.
The dacoits opened fire when they were signaled to stop at a check post. Police on retaliation gunned down the culprits on the spot.
On the other hand, suspected robbers riding a motorbike opened fire on police when they tried to stop them in Achra area. After the exchange of fire, a dacoit and policeman were killed while one culprit managed to escape.
